På engelska är ett regelbundet verb ett verb som följer de vanliga konjugeringsreglerna i Simple Past och Past Participle (för att bilda Present Perfect). Du måste lägga till -ed till verbstammen för att bilda dessa två konjugeringsformer. Oregelbundna verb följer inte dessa regler! Därför måste du lära dig dem utantill för att undvika att göra misstag.

Ett annat tips som kan hjälpa den som lär sig oregelbundna verb är att gruppera dem efter deras oregelbundenhet. Förvisso är verben oregelbundna, men det går att identifiera typer av oregelbundenhet som upprepas för flera verb. (exempel: drink-drink-drunk och sing-sang-sung).
