In het Engels zijn er enkele honderden onregelmatige werkwoorden, maar slechts een minderheid ervan wordt regelmatig gebruikt.We hebben de 160 meest gebruikte onregelmatige werkwoorden in de Engelse taal verzameld, zodat u ze effectief kunt leren en herhalen.
Deze lijst is interactief.Het is mogelijk om het slimme zoekveld te gebruiken om een werkwoord of de specifieke vorm van een werkwoord te zoeken.
In het Engels is een regelmatig werkwoord een werkwoord dat de gebruikelijke regels van vervoeging volgt in de Simple Past en Past Participle (om met name de Present Perfect te vormen). Je moet -ed toevoegen aan de stam van het werkwoord om deze twee vervoegingen te vormen. Irreguliere werkwoorden volgen deze regels niet! Daarom moet je ze uit je hoofd leren om geen fouten te maken.

Om onregelmatige werkwoorden te onthouden is de enige techniek die werkt herhaling.Het is raadzaam om het leren van onregelmatige werkwoorden te verdelen over meerdere dagen, zodat het gemakkelijker is om ze voorgoed te onthouden.
Een andere tip die de persoon die onregelmatige werkwoorden leert kan helpen, is om ze te groeperen volgens hun onregelmatigheid. Werkwoorden zijn inderdaad onregelmatig, maar het is mogelijk om soorten onregelmatigheden te identificeren die voor meerdere werkwoorden herhaald worden (voorbeelden: drink-drank-drunk en sing-sang-sung).
